Amy is a newcomer to the St. Mary’s School team and New Mexico, having recently moved to Albuquerque from northeast Ohio where she has spent the past thirty-plus years in education. She received her BS in Education from the University of Akron, and a Master’s in School Counseling from Kent State University. Amy’s experience ranges from teaching K-12 in a number of subject areas, as well as being a school counselor for middle and high school students in both public and private schools. In 2019, Amy celebrated twenty years in Catholic Education in the Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio.
Amy is a certified yoga teacher and has completed additional coursework in mindfulness-based education, grief and trauma support, training in anxiety/depression management, and bullying prevention. Amy enjoys working with students and supporting them as they work through the many challenges and opportunities that are a part of life and school. Her goal as a school counselor is to support the St. Mary’s educational environment, helping students grow to be the happy, healthy, holy, highly prepared, and unique individuals God created them to be.
Amy and her husband, Ray, enjoy biking, hiking, and exploring the Land of Enchantment with two mini dachshunds, Peaches and Tank. Amy rides her bike into school most days, so be sure to wave if you see her! Amy and Ray are parents to five adult children and have three grandchildren. Amy is excited to be a part of the St. Mary’s School family, and very much looking forward to forging new relationships with students, families, and her fellow St. Mary’s educators and support staff.
