Ms. Rivera is honored to say she has been a music teacher at St. Mary’s since 1992. As well as a music teacher for St. Mary’s school, Ms. Rivera shares her gifts and talents as a musician for the Saturday and Sunday evening masses at Immaculate Conception Church. She is enthusiastic to begin each new school year sharing the love of music and Catholic faith with preschool through 8th grade students. Ms Rivera has earned two master's degrees in music, and continues to pursue knowledge as a lifelong learner. She recently completed her ORFF certification in children’s music, level one of Kodaly music training, a master’s course in music technology, and has completed Level l in World Music Drumming. Ms Rivera has dedicated her musical career to helping young people discover their God given talents as they polish and share their gifts and love of music. Students receive a well rounded music education through activities in singing, (preparing music for weekly liturgies and preparing music for the Christmas program, to name a few), or playing recorder, drumming, playing boomwhackers, bells and xylophones, or folk dancing. Ms Rivera is excited as well to work with middle school students in the Google Classroom for music, learning about the elements of music, music history and appreciation, and exploring a variety of uses for technology in music. There is always something exciting happening in the music room!
